Art & Putt - A 9 hole mini golf course inspired by Contemporary and Modern Art

Summer 2024 at Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays has been transformed into a playground of creativity and fun with the launch of “Art and Putt” – a custom-designed 9-hole mini golf course that blends the joy of gaming with the intellectual stimulation of contemporary and modern art. As the curator and producer of this unique installation, I wanted to create an experience that makes art accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or previous exposure to the art world.

As Creative Director, I approached each hole as a sculptural challenge – how could we transform two-dimensional masterpieces into immersive three-dimensional playspaces? Working closely with my production team of sculptors and fabricators, we meticulously crafted each installation to capture the essence of each artist’s unique aesthetic.

Situated in the vibrant shopping destination that welcomes millions of visitors annually, Art and Putt offers a refreshing break from traditional retail therapy. Against the stunning backdrop of Portsmouth Harbour and the iconic Spinnaker Tower, players of all ages can enjoy a round of mini golf while simultaneously embarking on an educational journey through significant artistic movements and notable artists.
